The Curtiss Memorial Fountain

The Curtiss Memorial Fountain underwent extensive restoration organized by the Shelton Historical Society, with the cooperation of the City of Shelton. It was returned to its location on the Huntington Green in Huntington Center in 2002. Below you will find pictures of the fountain being reinstalled after being recast and restored.

The figure atop the fountain, "The Amazon", created after a sculpture by August Kiss, was heavily damaged over the previous century. It was recontructed utilizing available photographs, then cast in bronze to weather the New England winters. The original zinc sculpture is on display at the Shelton History Center.

This effort was made possible from countless donations from the local community and the support of the City of Shelton. Thank you for your help in making this project possible.

The Shelton Historical Society is now in the process of restoring another beautiful Shelton statue located in Riverview Park. Please click here to learn more about this new exciting project.
