To Visit or Contact Us

Shelton Historical Society staff and volunteers try to accommodate community groups such as scouts, senior citizens, nursery schools, civic organizations, and the like with varations of existing programs or special requests if time and resources permit.

Programs are based upon site interpretation, collections, and archival material in the possesion of the Shelton Historical Society and reflect the missions of the Society.

Please contact Shelton History Center at (203) 925-1803 to arrange a visit, or learn about upcoming events and hours of operation. The Brownson House, the Trap Fall School, and the Wilson Barn and its exhibit Three Centuries of Shelton-From Farming to Industry and Beyond are all available to be shown. Our mailing address is:

Shelton History Center is located at 70 Ripton Road, approximately 1/4 mile north of the Huntington Green in Shelton, Connecticut. See map or directions below.

Traveling South on Route 8, take exit 12. At end of ramp, turn right. Pass Mobil and Hilton and proceed to traffic light. Go through traffic light and follow Commerce Drive until end. Turn right and proceed to Huntington Center. Follow directions from Huntington Green.

From Huntington Green: At end of green, turn left then immediately bear right onto Ripton Road. Proceed to Shelton History Center. Turn left onto Cloverdale Avenue and park at curb. Office entrance is in back of Marks-Brownson House down steps. Tour and exhibit entrance is in lower level of Wilson Barn.

Traveling North on Route 8 from Routes 95, 25, and 15 (Merritt Parkway): Take exit 11. Turn left at end of exit and proceed through next light approximately 3 miles. Huntington Center will be ahead. Follow directions from Huntington Green.
