About
Shelton Historical Society
and
Shelton History Center

Picture

The Shelton History Center was formed in 1971 when the Shelton Historical Society purchased the Brownson family home from the Derby Savings Bank for $1.00 on the condition that it would be moved to another location. Mr. & Mrs. Wisner Wilson, who owned farm land and a vegetable stand on Ripton Road, were gracious enough to donate a portion of their land and barn for this purpose.  In doing so the  Shelton History Center was founded.
Shelton History Center now consists of the one room Trap Fall School, a carriage barn housing a collection of horse drawn vehicles, a corncrib and an outhouse, in addition to the c. 1822 Brownson House and 19th century Wilson Barn..
